i may try to reinstall.do you have to be connected to the internet when you register the product with your key code? my daw isn't.maybe this is why?

I still have a feeling this is a problem with the registration process, as when i registered, there was an error message that came up which said they couldnt find something.txt file, but i didnt pay much notice as it seemed the product was registered in my name and i was able to use it.then 5 mins later the crackling appeared. And like I said my cpu usage indicator isn't even that high on most normal presets.not more than a 1/6th the way up with one instance, which i think is fairly normal. They cannot claim it is a cpu problem either, im aware that ace is a cpu hog if you are running more than a couple of instances, but one single instance.no way.even something like omnisphere isn't that bad.

I will definately be emailing support though, as it is obviously a problem with their software not with my setup as the problem goes as soon as i switch off their vst. I bought mine today though, not sure if buying a new copy would help all that much. I will only get crackling when I exceed 3-4 instances of Ace and it puts my processor useage in the red. Mine works good, but I bought mine about a month or two ago. I wonder if there is anyway you guys can ask for new Ace programs. I use many VI's like Arturia, NI, IK Multimedia etc with minimal (usually if to many instances are running at once for example) to zero problems. I'm good at answering music trivia, bad at collecting a working prize LOL.

Strange since I won my copy on a contest he was holding on a Pro Tools blog. When I described the above in an email, the owner of the company told me it must be a Pro Tools problem and that was the beginning and end of his assistance. Always have wanted to play with this but would love to know of a solution.

I have a 2009 Mac Pro Quad with 4 gigs of RAM using PT 8.03 and one instance will do this to me. It is obnoxious and almost immediate as i scroll through it's presets. It crackles on almost all presets except for the mellower sounding ones and it's not like a, you have used this for a couple minutes now comes a crackle, demo type thing. How quickly does yours start to crackle ? I have had the same problem with this as well since i got it last winter. It actually makes sense what the other poster said, it sounds like a built in protection for demo's.question is why is it doing this when I have registered. As I said this crackling is running like its on a loop. 8 channels of audio, 1 of ace, and 2 plugins. I would think you could be correct if I was running multiple instances without bouncing, but this is just one channel with no other vsts running and only 2 other eq plugins running, basically this is the bare bones of a song running. Bear in mind Im only running one channel of ace. Ok so hold on I'm led to believe this is a problem with registration? I honestly dont think this is a problem with my processor, im running a i930 with 6 gig ram and my cpu meter is hardly moving.
When you are ready to record, I'd suggest muting everything and recording just one Ace part at a time. You want to turn the Voices as low as you can, Quality you should lower, and also Stack more voices can lead to high CPU use. I had about 3-4 instances of Ace going and the same thing happened (on a 2.4ghz Macbook). So if your processor gets overloaded by heavy use of Ace, it will do this. Ace is very processor intensive and dependant.
